Greenland and the Arctic are receiving increasing international attention, highlighting the need for us Greenlanders to tell our own stories and share our knowledge. At Pikiala, we have deep societal insight based on both professional experience and personal understanding. To navigate and comprehend Greenland, it is essential to know the country’s structure, history, culture, and challenges—areas in which we have extensive experience.
Over the years, Pikiala has specialized in building bridges between Greenland and the outside world by conveying Greenlandic realities and perspectives in both directions. We believe that dialogue and mutual understanding lead to better decisions that benefit as many as possible.
Programmes and courses
Based on our educational backgrounds and many years of leadership experience across a wide range of positions, we offer services ranging from general talks about Greenland to customized programmes for workplaces. Our special focus areas are strategy implementation, leadership, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Strategy development
At Pikiala, we support companies and organizations in developing strong and targeted strategies. We contribute an external perspective and help facilitate the process from vision to concrete action plans that drive change and achieve goals.
For us, it is crucial that the process is grounded in the organization’s internal reality and the external world in which it operates. A strategy should not just be theoretical—it should be practically applicable, add value, and become an integrated part of daily operations instead of ending up forgotten in a drawer. A strategy should be lived and used.
Participation and dialogue
At Pikiala, we prioritize genuine dialogue and participation, which require a unique approach and understanding. We have extensive experience with engagement through methods such as surveys, interviews, dialogue forums, and focus groups. We support involvement in strategy development, major change processes, and citizen or customer surveys.

Implementation

At Pikiala, we offer guidance to organizations seeking support in their implementation efforts. We were the key drivers behind the successful execution of Greenland’s largest event to date: AWG2016.
Project management
At Pikiala, we have extensive experience managing a wide variety of projects across different societal sectors. We have the skills and tools to assess project potential before they begin, develop detailed plans, manage projects through execution, deliver concrete results, and conduct thorough evaluations.
Our most comprehensive project management experience comes from AWG2016, where we held overall project leadership. We successfully navigated collaboration between public and private stakeholders and civil society, gaining valuable insight and a solid understanding of complex project governance.
Communication
All organizations need to communicate—internally and externally. Effective communication can be critical to success. Good communication must be targeted, and the message must be clear.
At Pikiala, we offer advisory services for organizational communication, such as developing communication strategies, identifying the right channels, and creating communication plans. Arnakkuluk Jo Kleist holds a Master’s in Communication and has held several executive positions with responsibility for communication.
Analysis and evaluation
Organizations can sometimes become impatient and skip the necessary analysis phase, which is crucial for understanding the core of a problem before acting. At Pikiala, we are trained and experienced in analyzing challenges from multiple perspectives, with competencies in both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Thorough analysis is often necessary to find the best solutions, and we support organizations through this process. When initiatives are implemented and completed, evaluation provides a clear picture of whether the objectives were met and what lessons were learned. Unfortunately, the value of a thorough evaluation is often overlooked or deprioritized due to time constraints. Pikiala helps highlight the most important insights and results through structured evaluations.
Concept development
At Pikiala, we serve as sparring partners when ideas need to be developed into viable concepts. Our broad experience in business and project work makes us ideal partners for inspiring ambitious ideas and challenging their practical feasibility. In our concept development work, we also have extensive experience involving relevant target groups.
Coaching
Maliina Abelsen is a certified coach with many years of experience in coaching-based leadership. She offers sparring and coaching in a safe and confidential environment. In addition, she is a trained mindfulness and yoga instructor, allowing her to support workplace well-being on a broader level. Maliina has taught yoga for over 20 years and is also a certified fitness trainer.
